I am new to monsterreef so I want to first apologize if I am posting in the wrong area.
I have a 60 gal (48" width) salt tank running with a sump and ASM G1 skimmer. I have blue tang, yellow tang, copperband, a pair of clowns, blenny, snail and a cleaner shrimp for community fish and all my wife cares about is a stingray. Our first one did great for about 2 months until the powerhead got ahold of him and suctioned him to the bottom and killed him. I went and bought another ray from a different LFS (because the first LFS I went to was sold out) and he died the next day. The 2nd LFS replaced that one with another one from the same tank as the one I got the day before and I put him in after acclimating and he died the next day again! I thought for sure my water was bad even though I tested it after the first one died and my parameters seemed perfect although my phosphates were a little high.
A different LFS (the one I bought the first one from) said that where I bought the second 2 from had to of been sick because even if the water quality was bad that they would not have died over night cause of it. Im just looking for advise from someone who is into the hobby and not trying to sell them. I will list all information I know below and thanks for the help.
Stingray type: California (small 2 - 3")
Tank Size: 60 gal (48" wide)
Temp: 79/80
Bed: Soft Sand w/some rock but only in corner
PH: 8.2
salinity: 1.025
Nitrate: 10
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Filtration: Sump w/live rock and ASM G1 Protein Skimmer
Any advice on anything I should change to get a stingray tha I can keep as a baby until it gets bigger then I will upgrade to a 140 gal after about 6 - 9 months. Thanks again!
