I have had my first pup (2 month old black Diamond female) & first adult (2 yr. old pearl male) rays for 2 weeks now. I have really enjoyed them, but am stressing out a lot! Just a few questions...

1. For the pup, she is acting great; very outgoing & active, & eating red worms cut up & I also throw in some frozen bloodworms she does a dance for! How soon should I try to get her taking pellets & how is best to do that?

2. For the adult, I have ordered blackworms from blackwormsdirect. I am told that he came from thailand & they only fed him live. How hard will it be to get him taking pellets & how should I try to do it?

When I had my 1st one I just fed what they would eat anyway and added a couple of pellets after about a week of owning 2 days later he took to them. Now,hell eat anything. I was probably lucky but worth a go as long as the pellets you're using are a similar size to the chunks of worms etc. may be worth giving them a soak for 5 mins to soften them if you're a little unsure on size.

for the adult is he eating the blackworms you ordered? If so try the same process.

From what I've read. If the luck I had doesn't work for you, people put the food you want him to eat, in water with the food he eats now. So that the food he has now, has the same taste/ oils etc as the food you want him to eat. If not i used this method but added crushed garlic to the water with my 2nd ray who wouldn't eat. Then only ate redworms and now eats redworms, fresh prawn and muscles the same as my 1st ray eats. I soaked this for about an hour. But wasn't sure how long. It all stank from the off. Lol

Some info from reading/ asking on here. Some with my own experience.

Hope this helps dude.

Its would be good to work on shrimp and talapia, that food is an easy switch from worms, then once they are eating that which is going to be cheaper then your other food start working on feeding pellets, if they get onto other foods and have a variety its easier then if they just eat one food all the time.
