End of my rope
I relocated my stingray to her new home today but her barb got stuck in the net. I cut the net but there is still a piece wrapped around her tail. Will she be all right? She should just shed the stinger right?

will be fine, or try "slowly" try tweezer when it swim by and pull it off or wait 6 month to shed the barb off.

We are here to help people with their problems. Why do "people" always have to police everything? We are not the police or enforcer....Simple question but received no answer except mocky

because if ppl don't obey the law, it ruins it for all of us.
and as far as the atlantic stingray, yes, it is legal in florida and can be kept in freshwater so long as it is well overfiltered and the volume of water is great enough. it will eventually need to be transitioned into saltwater regardless, so it will not always stay freshwater.

after all, it is the "atlantic" stingray.

The Atlantic Ray colony in the St. Johns is genetically different from the ones in the Atlantic. They are born in the river, they are raised in the river, they mate in the river, they die in the river. They are the only fully freshwater Atlantic rays in the world.

As for why we keep it legal, MFK can be held responsible for promoting illegal activities. This forum is watched by enforcement officials on a regular basis.

The Atlantic Ray is an indigenous species and if you get it from the colony in the St. Johns River, it is 100% legal AND freshwater.

Thanks for clearing that up. I read in another post of yours (See below) that you were getting a motoro for this tank. It will be interesting to see how long it lasts in FW in a tank since they produce a large amount of urea to survive in FW. I also have to ask... did you collect it yourself with a personal permit for FL waters or did you buy one collected from the river? They are classified by species for collection purposes, and fall under marine ornimental fish.

Its been cycled for a year now and i have a 400g tank I'm buying from LFS that went out of business. Gonna stock it with fire eel, two oscars, arowana, motoro stingray, and possibly a peacock bass.

Dont want to jump in when I absolutely do not know the topic of ST. Johns however I've read up on their ability of being in freshwater, but collecting them .....

I've seen so many sellers selling those stingrays saying they're from ST Johns all over the US why is this like a personal question thing? or is it a total unrelated topic?
