Hey guys!
ill introduce myself,
my name is Bart Kee,
I live in amsterdam (holland) and i'm getting myself a 400G fishtank
in a month time.

I want to apologize for all gramatical errors you will encouter in the next few minutes.

I know this is a rough topic, and ive read all posts about it on about every
forum now.

I have a small RTC (9 inch, 25/30cm) together with 3 black arrow's.
I want to buy a new tank, the 400G one for myself.

In this tank i'm planning to combine a couple of stringrays (Potamotrygon Hystrix, but im not sure wich kind of stingray jet) with my RTC.
Also im planning to ad A oscar fish to that.

I know i have to get ride of the RTC in awhile. since a indour pond is not a option in amsterdam.

Im searching for people, who combined And RTC With an Stingray, succesfol or not! there are a lot of people who say no, without having any expierence at all with these fish. So please, only respond if you have , or know anybody who has, any experience with this set up. And ofcourse if the fish did well or not.

Also the combination of Oscar fish and stingrays is a little rare. But im not to worried about that. So ive you have any experience with this combination, please let me know!

The idea is to start with full grown rays, bigger than the RTC.

Also im very intressed in measurements from RTC owners, as how much then grow vs time.

Ofcourse if this is impossible to combine, i wont do it.

Hopefully hear from u guys soon!

ciao

not enough time to give all the numbers/stats you requested, but your RTC will eat your oscar. If you can not maintain care of the RTC throughout it's life, you should not own it. your rays will appreciate a tank with a large footprint.

I have my 22" and 14" rtc with my 12" albino O for 2 yrs now it all depends on the beast lol

I have two RTCs living with an oscar that is smaller. So far so good. As RedTailKing has stated "it all depends on the beast". See my thread for example

RTC grows quite fast - if you feed it all the time. Your 9" beastie should more than double in size in a year ^^ good luck

Sorry can not advise any further on the ray compatibility issue. I am actually curious as well

They are fine, but RTCs need to be max 1/2 the rays size, and the best is the catexi species which tend to get bigger and are aggressive eaters so they won't lose out to the RTC.

If they grow up togather it should be fine. a 20 inch catexi will not make an easy meal even for a 30 inch RTC.

I currently house a 22" RTC, a 12" Oscar and a pair of Motoro stingrays in my tank. No issues to speak of, the Oscar can be a bit picky to the rays but never breaks the skin, more of a love tap to remind them of his territory.

The RTC has shown no aggression to the Oscar or the rays. My largest ray is 12-13" and my smallest is 9-10". Again, the cat doesn't bother my rays.

I'm not going to say this combo will work in your case but it seems to work good for me.

The only down side to this mix is the amount of food I have to feed to satisfy the tank. It's costing me a ton of $$$ Well worth it though:headbang2

Good luck

if you keep the rtc well fed you can keep a oscar.at the new england aquarium they have a rtc with silver dollars and there not getting chased by the rtc.if you keep it well fed you can keep it good with the oscar.
