Hey, I have a 4'x2'x2' tank and I've set it up for a 6" motoro. As of right now it's cycling so I'd like to know if I'm missing anything. I have two aquaclear 110s, a heater and guard running at 82 and I'm going out to get a 4' single tube light. I was wondering if I should get a uv sterilizer? Is there any thing else I'm missing? I'm aware that the motoro will outgrow the tank so I was also wondering if a 6'x3'x2' would be good for a pair later on? Thanks in advance.

The wider the better on the tank. I don't think you need a U.V sterilizer on the tank unless you get an alge bloom. I am also looking at a 6x3x2 tank for my rays...good luck with you ray, they are truly my favorite pets. I presently have 3, 2 at 12" and 0ne at 9" all Motoro's

I would get the U.V. Im getting one for mine as it can only help! Also Id throw on a good cannister or two that can hold more bio media. You dont want to risk an ammonia spike and frankly the AC110s dont have too much bio media.

You can house a small pair in the 4x2 for ahwhile especially w/o any tank mates. After 18 months you may need to start loking for something bigger.

There's not really a need to run U.V. all the time unless you like buying new bulbs every 5-6 mounths i have one as well but have only used it a few times, when they were sick or for the water.

its every year for a UV bulb.... also 6'x3'x2' is not large enough that tank would need to be upgraded.... I would look into 8'x4'x2'....ponds can be built for a lot cheaper than a tank....
