He keeps swimming near the top of the surface, ocassionally sticking his nose out of the water. Although its not constant, its more than he was doing yesterday, which was zero. (Ive had him for 3 days) He's in there with a lot of tetra's (they were cycling the tank for about 3 weeks)
nitrate=0
ammonia =.5 ppm
nitrite=0
Temperature=84 F
Question: I've never had a stingray nor seen anyone elses tank for an extended amount of time. Is this normal behavior?

Thanks

I am in no way a ray expert, but if he is swimming up the glass and splashing at the surface or otherwise being active is a sign of a healthy ray.

My ray does that all the time. Mine starts at one end of the tank and lets the current push her down to the other end and will do again. She also does that when she wants me to feed her, which is like every time I walk past the tank. But like redtailfool said it is just something rays do.
