Have a bit of a dilema with my tank build that I'm going to start today. Tank is going to be epoxy lined plywood, using the front glass off a cracked 125 I picked up for $5 at an auction as the viewing window.

I built a stand quite a while ago before seriously thinking about all the exact dimensions. Right now, the stand is 72" and 22" between the upper supports (this tank is going on the bottom of a metal stand), so the tank has to fit between either of these. The glass I have is 72 1/8" by 20 1/2".

The tank can either be approx. 73.5" x 22" x ~24" tall using the glass the way it is, or I can get the glass cut a bit and have the tank 71.5"x26"x~24 tall. The second option gives about 4" more bottom width but requires the extra cost of getting the glass, whereas the first is cheaper but narrower.

This isn't going to be a permanent home for the motoro's, but is just a starting point as I will be using it as 'trial run' for a larger tank (probably 8x4x4).

TIA!

those dimensions are really not that good for most rays.... motoro might get 3 years out of it....

SOUNDS GOOD....., BUT REALLY NIC IS RIGHT...., IT WOULD BE BETTER TO IGNORE YOUR STAND DIMENSIONS....., AND JUST MAKE THE TAKE WIDER THAN THE 24" OR 26" WIDTH. JUST GO FOR 36" FOR NOW AND THAT WILL DEFINETLY BE A BETTER TANK TO START WITH. PLUS IT WILL GIVE YOU A BETTER TANK BUILDING EXPERIENCE IN REGARDS TO MAKING A LARGER TANK IN THE FUTURE. IT WILL ALSO BE MORE REWARDING. BUILDING ANOTHER STAND ISNT THAT BIG OF A DEAL....
