Just upgraded to a 75 gal, which houses a 14" RTC and 16" Tiger Oscar. Are these not good tank mates for a sting ray? Not sure what kind of ray yet, but I really enjoy watching them climb around the glass and go about their day. Will the stingray cause harm to the RTC? or will the RTC or Oscar, just gobble up the ray? I think if I add sand to give the stingray a place to hide , he might have a chance?

I havent read much about their tank mates, or them with oscars so im usure

The tank isn't big enough for either of its current occupants. It's certainly not big enough for a ray. Even if you put a ray into that tiny box and it hid all day in the sand, what kinda existence is that for the ray?

well its more then plenty for the oscar. And the RTC wont be in THAT tank much longer. its his winter tank. But my question is, will the ray get along with an Oscar? Ive seen numerous videos online of knife fish, oscars, and rays getting along in a 75 gal. I want to make sure he wont barb the oscar

Wow... You think its ok to have all those monster fish in a small 75g just because you seen videos online with idiots having them in their small tanks? :shakehead

The tiger oscar alone is too big for a 75g...I bet it barely has enough room to turn around

& no stingray can live happily in a 75g...not even a 125g

Really? Please dont get me wrong. Im totally a newbie to rays. Its an idea I'd like to try out..Heres a pic of them in the 75 gal. And the goldfish are all gone btw. this pic was from last week when they first got transported into their new tank, Right now they seem to have plenty of room, but im sure in 6 months things will change, and the RTC will have been re-homed by then

See Im confused. All over MFK , reddit r/fish, r/aquariums, cichlidforums.com , they all debate that the rule of thumb for oscars is 1 per 55/75 gal. I think my oscar is tiny for the 75 hes in now. And I dont see why it would be small for a tiny teacup ray. But again. Im new to rays, and want to expand my horizon. Ive done cichlids for 10 years, and had the oscar since 2/11/11 and the RTC since 2/21/11

No offense but your oscar looks more like 10-12" not 16"...You also gotta be careful feeding them feeder fish. You do know they are known to carry all kinds of diseases right? Feeding them feeders frequently/all the time = higher the chance your fish gets a disease and dies. Its best to quarantine them for a few weeks before feeding them to your oscar/rtc.

& at least your smart enough not to have any decorations so they have more room to swim, but I still think your tank is overstocked...now that you've shown me a pic, the oscar does seem to have enough room...I would keep him solo in that size tank though.

they get 3 dozen a week, spread out. That was just a fluke that day that both myself and father purchased food 2 hours apart from each other .

That oscar measures roughly around 13-14" from head to tail. Although that is lining up a tape measure on the outside of the glass. So I round up for the movement. But he definitely has plenty of room in that tank.

As for the food, they get a variety of blood worms, beefheart, freeze dried krill, hikari pellets, and feeder fish.

But again, this is more for a stingray discussion, I just hate to clutter this sub forum with offtopic chat. BUT i hate to turn away a good convo, as I love to talk about my monsters all day long. So please dont think im trying to be a dick by any repsonses, I just want to soak up more knowledge. You really NEVER know enough and are learning new **** every day in this hobby
