Well ive been wanting a ray for a very long time. Last night I lucked out and got 175 that a neighbor was throwing away. My guess is he upgraded. The tank and stand needs some tlc but its not too beat up. Im trying to think of what to stock with . I might put a pair of festaes if I cant keep a stingray.oh the footprint is 6x2x28h

It will be too small for adult FW rays. There are a couple of good stickies to read with loads of info in the FW ray section you could check out.

A 175 gallon is too small for a ray..

Thanks guys. Im going to go with the festaes then or maybe a sa/ca cichlid community.

Just so you know, your tank is bigger than you think. 6x2x2 is 180 so yours is around 190-200g

i was told thats how many gallons it was when i grabbed it. if it is the size you said it would be awesome, especially for a free tank.

a 210 should house a male retic ray for a long time if not for life.....

i would like a tank to house one permanently.

Read the sticky in the ray forum. It's got information on how big each species gets, and what size tank you need.

I think there's one or two species that stay small enough to live in a 180 permanently.....But I'm no ray expert. The ticky will have that info.
