I know this is a newbie question but well I am a newbie. I am about to start up my first Ray tank, it is a 90 gallon, I know that this will not due for life but I can easily upgrade tanks down the road.....consider this a display/grow out tank.

My question is what are peoples experiences with rays and Gars, also Jardini Arowanas. I have heard good and bad but have not gotten first hand accounts.

Thanks:D

Sorry for got to mention that I will be getting a hystrix ray as my first.

any pics of ur rays?

I am not really sure about the gar...but i wouldn't try it. I would definately not try a jardini because they are too aggressive. I wouldn't mix either personally, stick with a south american arowana.

I have seen gars with rays but the tank was a 300gl. No jardini, only silver or black aros. You can do mont peaceful fish but anything small enough will be eaten, and they may even try bigger things. Catfish are good but you have to remember floor space. There are quite a few things, just search around. Oh plecos can be done, but be VERY, VERY, carefull, and if you see any problems take it out immediatly.

I keep a 9in silver arro with my 8in motoro with no problems, idk about a jardini though.

i got a datnoid with mine

Not worth the risk in my opinion, also I am looking for a top dweller to go with the ray,

Anyone have ideas. Don't want a Silver arow (or other) because they will out grow my tank too quick

I have RTG's, silver and black arowana in with my rays
Also P Bass and Fire / tyre track eels

I think a Jardini would not be a good idea though as they are pretty aggressive fish
