I have a 270 gallon tank with a Florida gar, 2 arowanas, a peacock bass, and 2 bichirs. I want to get a stingray but my tank is only 2 feet wide. What species stays small and is also hardy?

Hystrix Stingray but don't know how hardy they are.

There are mini marble motoros here in the UK, but still I wouldn't have thought a 2ft wide tank is wide enough for them when adult as they can still reach over 14" wide.

Thanks, my LFS has 2 motoro leopoldi hybrids. If I get a male, would the tank be big enough for a adult?

Male leopoldi get huge 18 -'24" disk, some bigger, same for motoro. So imagine the Ray touching both sides of the tank constantly? The only ones that stay smaller are a certain strain of marble motoros which are rare. I'd suggest to search some threads to read about them, I only know of one breeder in the UK and a couple in the US.

Go for it if you want, but a 2ft wide tank would need to be upgraded after a year or so and definitely couldn't house an adult I'm afraid. Or just be aware you may have to sell Ray on to a bigger home.

Okay thanks, does anyone have any experience with hysterix? If you do are they as hardy as Motoros?

My boss has had a male Leo in his 10x4 for longer than I've been working for him (3years) and he only has a 12 inch disk.
