What are your guys opinions of keeping stingrays and birchirs together. First off can they be kept together. If they can do you think they are a good thing to add to a stingray tank or is it something that should be left out do to limmited floor space. Any ideas or opinions.

saw some posting with stingray and bichir together. honestly i don't have any clue. but in my own opinion as long as the bichir is big enough that the stingray can't swallow it then it's fine. next would be the tank size, then need room for both of them. i know bichirs are not that aggressive and stingrays are peaceful ones. i think you can join them. but as i said.. this is pure instinct only. please don't quote me on this. lest wait for some more inputs :D

i've got 3 rays abt 7-8" diameter with one 6" long birchir, they have been very good to one another for months ;)

i only had mines for liek 2 hours... i saw the bichir try to bite the rays EYES!!!!! but it stopped.... cuz i banged on the glass. hahahahha i hope it doesnt do it again

The eyes will always be tasty looking treats to ur bichir....just a matter of time

I dont keep rays at the moment but have been doing lots of research and most places say its not a good idea to keep birchers with rays. As the bircher cant see too well it sometimes just lunges at things it sees moving and to see what it is uses its mouth which if its a rays disc that its investigating could have really bad consequences as the wound could get infected. Also if the ray is afraid that the bircher will attack it etc this can cause 'acute stress' then means that you most likely wont notice anything but the ray will have to be always alert so have no resting time. This has a number of problems; it could slow down growth rate, reduce chance of breeding, reduce the apparite of the ray and generally the ray wont feel safe in its enviroment.

"ThisIsTong"... in my experience this past 2 days... keep the bichir away. i lost my baby aro from a baby bichir. the bichir took the eye. i was out for work when i came home nip fins and one eye was missing. just to share you my experience. i felt so guilty for my fish. i had no other choice but to return both bichir and aro since the LFS told me they will be fine. can't help thinking the helpless fish. :( :( :(
