I've kept stingrays before and never had a problem with mixing them with catfish or other bottom dwellers but I'm curious if they'd be okay with Geophagus? In the near future I was hoping to perhaps house a group of Geophagus Winemilleri or Abalios with one of the smaller rays like Hystrix. Now most of my wondering is due to the rays shedding their barbs and the Geo's constant "earth eating" and my use of a sand substrate. I've never had a problem with other bottom dwellers and rays but then again I've never had a fish that mouthed the substrate on a regular. Thanks in advance for any help or personal experiences you can give me.

Several rays keepers on here have geos with their rays, keepinfish comes to mine. Should be fine especially with a smaller species like hystix.

I have them together and most of the time it is fine, but this happened once when i added a couple smaller ones to the group.

That was a 5 inch altifrons and the culprit was a 10 inch mm.... sometimes they need brains!:screwy:

I've got some red-head geos with my hystrix. The rays took one out the very first night, but have left the rest alone since.

I've religiously kept geos with my rays.
They always get messed up though. The rays will pin down even the biggest ones in the night sometime the expensive cichlid does die . It sucks but I just keep buying them.

Satanoperca lucostica is my favorite geo followed by guinanacara owroewefi
