I just added two moss balls to my tank with the two motoro rays and they seem to be munching on them. One of the 2 inch moss balls has been bit in half so far. Is there any danger to the rays from these balls? What do they usually contain? The one that is bit in half does not seem to have anything different in the center, it appears to be just green moss (algae).

They don't seem to be getting ill from them but I just wanted to make sure. They definitely like playing with them.

No ill effects should come from it. Usually just mud and dirt in the center if its a true moss ball. Otherwise its just plant matter/algae.

I didn't notice any mud or dirt in the center, so I don't have true moss balls (in the tank)?

i wouldny worry at all...

Okay, thanks.

Rays can behave just like little puppies (dogs). They explore anything and everything in their tanks, sometimes destructively. A little vegetation in their diet won't hurt. I have actually put a couple golf balls and a carrot in their tank for fun. They seem quite amused.

*disclaimer*
The golf balls are not being consumed and I doubt rays have a sense of humor (in reference to the "amused" statement) they are just inquisitive by nature.

A carrot?! I'll have to try that!
