I've just got a new 540 L aquarium (180 gallons), so I've done a lot of research to figure out what species to keep. I wonder if there is any species of stingrays that can be kept in an aquarium that measures 150 cm in length, 60 cm width, and 60 height? I've seen som species that measures 30cm, are these possible to keep in my aquarium? and feeding, is it possible to feed these frozen food such as bloodworm? or do I have to feed them earthworms?

I've also looked into Channa species, mainly C. orientalis, C.bleheri and C.asiatica. Is it possible to feed them on dead food, or is live food required? how about having 2 or more in the same aquarium, will this be possible, or will they kill each other? and finally, is it possible to keep stingrays and snakeheads together?

I've been a member for quite some time now, but I haven't really gotten into monsterfish until recently. are there any other suggestions of species I can keep in my aquarium?
by the way, I live in Norway, snakeheads a legal here.

Thank you so much for your help!

It's a 150 you've got, not a 180.

Asiaticas would beat the **** out of small stingrays, but bleheri or orientalis would be fine yes, no problem.

Snakeheads generally eat almost anything, start them on bloodworms if they are small, then move onto frozen prawns/cockles etc

And yes bleheri/orientalis can be kept together.

oh, sorry. 150 then. just me being inaccurate in my calculations, I don't use gallons very often. thank you for the answer:)

No prob ;) Post some pics when you get them.

The most common small ray is probably a retic which would be fine in your tank, scobinas are small but hard to find, there are a couple of others too but I forget.

Bleheri get around 20 cm, and I think orientalis a tad smaller. Both are peaceful by snakehead standards.

Asiaticas are highly aggressive, cool fish but don't get them if you want a community tank with the rays etc :)

I know this is an old thread but bringing it back to life :)

Right now I'm trying with 1 motoro and 4 Bleheri in my tank. What I've seen is that when the motoro is burried sometimes they try to taste his eyes. I don't like the idea that they are poking his eys but so far no damage on the ray what I can see. Usually he just push them away and finds another spot in the tank.

Should I be worried?

hell yes you should be worried get them out of there. its stressing the rays and what happens when something does get a taste of its eyes

i dont know if this guy has the same tank as the original poster (hopefully he has larger) but i think he was just asking about the snakeheads. and from what ive heard about snakeheads thats a big no no (i have no real experience with snakeheads though)

I have a selection of snakeheads and also keep stingrays .I would not keep them together .The stingrays require alot more care and are quite labour intensive. The temp they are kept at is too high for snakeheads, also the water changes for the stingrays I do daily ,whereas the snakeheads do not require this .I Keep breeding pairs of c.belheri and c orientalis and each pair have there own tank. The tanks are very mature and have bogwood and planted up with loads of cover, any changes are done infrequently as a nice natural balance is what i want to achieve. The stingrays are a breeding pair of T cup stingrays and are kept in a 5ft x2ftx2ft tank with loads of filtration and airation .There is also a 3ftx2ftx2ft tank drilled and connected to the main tank and this has the babies in.These tanks are kept very clean and are very mature with daily water changes and water quality checks a must. These fish have different requirements ,and therefore are better to be kept apart,
