I have bin planing on putting Discus and rays together. i have had my rays with geos. befor and no problems. so i hape the Discus will b fine to. i will start off with throwing a couple in the tank every week to see how the rays r at first. NOW HERE IS THE QUESTION>>>the ph for the rays is like 7.5-8 and the ph for the Discus is 6.0-6.5. witch fish should i change the ph for in the tank first befor i put them together????

Unless you intend to breed your discus, they will do fine in the higher pH ranges. I have grown out quarter sized discus to 6" plus adults with no problems using my local tap water that has a pH of 7.4. Just maintain the water quality and give them (both discus and rays) quality and diverse foods for optimum growth. Also, unless your rays are small, I wouldn't introduce anything smaller than 4-1/2" TL discus with the rays. I keep rays and discus together for years. HTH.

oh yeah only 4inch or even 5inch, and my rays are 8inch male motoro. and a 7inch female.

Cool. I have some 12" rays with as small as 4-1/2" discus and hardly any problems. Be aware that there will be an occasional pinning of discus agains the wall and torn up pectoral fins every now and then. GL.

You will be fine at that pH. My pH is close to 8 and I have had my rays and discus together for almost a year now with no problems, in fact just last week two of my discus's decided to pair up and lay eggs, I was surprised that they would do this with the stingrays around, they must be happy enough to try and make babies :naughty:
But like the others have said, expect the occasional discus trapped under the stingray situation. It usually happens during feeding time when the discus are too stubborn to move out of the stingrays way, and the stingrays just want their food, they don't try and eat the discus, they seem more annoyed that they are just in their way lol.

tho some of you have had success with the co-habitating, I would be a little leary at night during rest/sleep period if the rays are active & the discus' are at the bottom resting. hmmmm.... slurp slurp chomp chomp....

my 8" disc female motoro would kill a 4/5" discus with in hours of being in the tank. she trys all the time with my NGT and flag tail.
