My girlfriend and I are moving from Big Rapids, MI to Florida probably within a year or so. Obviously freshwater stingrays are illegal in Florida and I think they would also be too hard to move. I have two retics that are about 6 to 8 inches, a male and a female. I am not quite sure what to do with them, but I know I want them to have a good home. So, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to maybe trade something for them or just has a nice big home for them for life. Or if anyone knows anything about moving them or getting a permit for them. My girlfriend has a bachelor in science and could possibly get a permit for them but you need to have proof of research, which we do not have. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, or if anyone wants to trade or take them, it would be good to know. Thankyou! :)

I would be happy to give them a good home, I currently house a pair of retic myself.

I am not sure what you would be looking for in a trade, I am not sure what to offer.

I'm in Louisville, Ky, right along the way :). I currently have one retic, and would love to add two more. I have several young peacock bass I might be willing to part with for them. I also have a brackish tank with figure 8 puffer and a moray eel if you wanted to trade.

Have you ever thought about touching bases with someone who already does stingray research in Florida? They could point you in the right direction if you wanted to actually get started on some research (which couldn't really be that difficult to get on paper, if you are close enough to an already practicing prof.) or maybe someone in their community could adopt them.

It's just a thought. Good luck, and enjoy Florida!

Try contacting Pat at amazonstingrays.com. He is a seller on this board and he is located in Troy, Michigan. He breeds lots of motoros and is an all around good guy.

He also has a retail store and may be willing to make you a trade on some hard goods (filters, food, etc.) that you could use in Florida.
