I currently have a 60 gallon freshwater tank and I'm thinking about switching it to a saltwater tank since Christmas is coming up. Although I'm not new to saltwater, I've never owned a stingray. Would i be able to house a ray in a 60 gallon? If not, what is the minimum tank size to house one and are they hardy to keep? Also, which ray stays the smallest? Any info on rays whatsoever will be appreciated.

I'd do saltwater for a year or so, then step to the harder animals like rays/sharks.
There is a lot to learn with just marine life in general. Rays are not a good starter fish due to how sensative they are.

Actually there are spcies of freshwater rays available - although you will need to check you local and state laws to see if it's possible to keep them in your state, or area.

As for Saltwater rays - the best rays are the round stingrays (Genus Urobatis) - they need virtually perfect water conditions, and need a tank of at least 225 gallons(6'L x 2.5'W x 2'H) for the smallest species - which is about 16' long.

Thanks for the info! Looks like the smallest species isn't even that small. hahahaa. As for freshwater stingrays they're illegal in my state. Unless if there was a person who knows of someone who sells em here in california...and would PM me w/ their number....:grinno:
