hey i have a 100 gallon tank and i,m wondering if there are any freshwater stingrays that are full grown at 8-10 inches that could go in the tank?

Dimensions? Tobiassorensen Tobiassorensen

Short answer is im pretty sure no... in the past i thought of getting one for my 200G and never found one that would really work comfortably for life...

Most rays will require at least 3’ front to back and about 6’ length if not more, add to that they are massive waste producers means a 100G is almost guaranteed a no go...

Probably good to use as a sump for a ray tank but not for housing one sadly...

Need a 180g, minimum, for smaller rays. 100g won’t do it.

Depends on the ray! I have a male hystrix/retic hybrid that is full grown at 5" diameter fully rolled, and a female same hystrix/retic that is full grown at about 8" in diameter. I have them in a 120 gallon tank at 48" x 24" and they will stay stay in that tank for life.

How old is the male?

How old is the male?

The male and female are same age. About 20 months old. Once the male is fully rolled they usually do not grow anymore. The female could possibly get another big growth spurt at any time. I have had them stay small for almost 2 years and then all of the sudden double in size. I also have a 2 year old male hystrix at 8" in diameter. These rays are not stunted either.

Where would i find a ray like this?
