Apparently they are really bad this year. I came home from being away friday-tuesday, somehow they got in my room and they were everywhere. It was quite horrible trying to sleep and waking up feeling the damn thing crawling on me. Anyway, I fed 2 of them to my jack, he ate them both. I still have my window A/C in the window at home but I plan on taking it out this evening when I get home, but I know that I am going to be in hell tonight. Are stink bugs safe to feed my Jack Demsey? He was fine this morning but before I feed him any others I find would like to know if they are safe.

Please take a picture. It could be a boxelder bug - they are usually black and red and swarm together in large numbers.

If it is a stinkbug - I cannot imagine any fish wanting to eat one, but who knows. A picture would tell for sure what it is exactly.

I dont have a picture, but I am 100% sure its stink bugs. I know exactly what box-elder beetles are, and I know these Stink bugs well as they are always around the area I live just never in my home like this before. I also know you probably asked because box-elder are more know to swarm, but thats usually the spring-summer transition, I have a few rental properties that get bad swarms of box-elders around that time.

I don't think there would be any issues with eating the bugs themselves. If it wasn't good the JD probably would have spit them out. The primary concern would be whether the bugs had come into contact with any pesticides or chemicals before you caught them. If you think they're clean then it should be fine.

Feeding a hand full here and there probably won't hurt anything. I personally probably wouldn't feed them to my fish just for fear of chemicals and pesticides like the above poster said. I have a pest control contract and they spray some junk around the perimeter of the house. I think I would be afraid of that getting into the tank.

ok thanks, I just wanted to make sure they were not poisoness to fish or not.

I have no idea if they are or not. I'm just guessing that since the fish ate it, that it would probably be ok. I'm actually suprised that the fish ate it since the the smelly secreation that it puts out is its defense mechanism.

Smash them. I hate bugs like that.

smashing stink bugs releases the stink. I was putting them in a gatorade bottle and flushed them this morning.
