How big of a tank for a stinkpot? Any info on their maximum size and diet would be appreciated.

Mostly carnivorous...you could get away with a 30"x12" tank.

could it go in a 60 with a 4" jack dempsey, 6" poly., 2 clown loaches and an orange pike?

There's a huge risk it'll mangle the fish, especially the bottom dwellers...mine did lol.

hahaha i forgot about that part thanks for the help though

60 should be fine, save what Simon said. Given stinkpots are fairly small I'd even say a 40 breeder would work for possibly a pair. Of course, the larger the better (not always the case, but still safe to go by). If it were any other Kinosternid species (like yellow muds or sonoran muds, something along their size or larger) I'd suggest larger than a 60, with the 60 probably being minimum. I'd also be concerned with potential drowning. Even though they are aquatic, 'Kinos' tend to not be that great of swimmers.

These guys are probably the best beginner turtle out there and something the size of a 40 gallon breeder aquarium or tub is about as small as I would go. They are quite active turtles and really enjoy space to explore. I currently have one living in a 40 gallon rubbermaid tub with a few fish and so far so good. Like Simon said they are mainly carnivores but will nibble on water plants from time to time. I feed mine turtle pellets, cichlid pellets, shrimp pellets, freeze dried shrimp, worms, frozen shrimp, fish filets, snails and crickets. Keep water temperatures in the mid to high 70's and have a strong filtration system as these guys just like any water turtle are pretty messy. They rarely bask when older but you should still provied a basking spot for them. I also have lots of floating Anacharis in the tank for my turtle to rest on.

hey thanks all the info should help. Now i just have to wait until spring to get one

I know many will tell you a 20L but honestly a 55gal rubbermaid is under 20bucks that will hold the a musk or two for life. If your going with a tank so you have complete veiw of the turtle i would suggest a 30gal ora 29 at the smallest.
