well i just bought 2 pieces of live rock, these are my first pieces and about 7pounds, they looked good and i thought they looked cured, but when i put them in they started to stink, well when i took them out of the bag they stunk
i just then cleaned them and got a lot of dead stuff off and they r now back in the tank. How do i get rid of stench:confused:
Here is a pic of before i cleaned them
2nd pic is after

The stench should go away after its cured, I believe.

i moved to rock into a plastic tub with fresh saltwater and a 750lph filter and airstone
i also put the lid on the tub so it doesn't stink=)

I'll bet your ammonia is through the roof in there. That coral's a gonner. You can cure the rock in your main tank if you have no livestock in there. That will cycle the tank.

ya in the first pis that coral doesn't really look that dead... or at least still had some dead flesh on it, it does seem have more white on it in the second picture. water changes could help with the smell temporarily
