So I work for an LFS and people are constantly asking what cichlids they can put in thier 29gal. I usualy have to tell them "no, you can't put an oscar in there. lol. But what are some other cool CA/SAs I can point them to? I have an open top 40gal halfmood display that I took over and I want to put cichlids in it so I can just walk them over and point stuff out. I can get a lot of stuff in so go crazy. I have a few in mind to get me started but let me know what YOU would stock. I was thinking firemouths, festivums and keyholes. Anything with a little more pazazz that I could get for it?

Here's a pic of the tank. Like I said I have taken it over and have redesigned it for cichlids. All the fish you list that I like will go in today and I'll post a pic of what you've stocked it with. So get crackin!
 
Tank dimensions are 48x22x11
It's actually just under 40gal.
Filtration: Intake is at the bottom of the tank and goes into a fluval G6 (computer with water rated for 160gal) and comes back out through a waterfall.

I would go a little more aggressive than apisos I think. Maybe some bolivian rams instead since they get a bit bigger.

I would do one for sure if we didn't have on already in out 180gal rainbow display. I like your thinking though!
