So...Finally, I have found another tank...And there is a grand possibility of me getting this tank...

So....Having a soft coral reef tank in a 125 gallon, what can I stock it with? And what would YOU do personally?

I was thinking:

2 blue hepatus tangs
4 Yellow tangs
2 ocellaris clownfish
Anddddd a scooter blenny/mandarin

Opinions?

Hey, is the length of the tank 6 ft?

Lol if that was my tank I would have the following:

-Yellow Head Eel
-Voltains Lion Fish
-Blue dot grouper or miniatus (may need larger tank for this specie)
-Australian Tusk
-Blue Throat Trigger

As you can see this will primarily be a FOWLR...and inverts. You can add corals because I've been hearing this trigger is pretty reef safe...but the eel may knock corals down.

Remember Tank Size Is Important But So Is Filtration!

Too many tangs. That is a lot of big fish for a reef of any kind in the long run, let alone all tangs. They would lead to a lot of waste and a tough time keeping water quality high.

Hepatus tangs also get really big and more than one in a tank this size would lead to problems long term(if not short term).

With Yellow tangs, you are supposed to keep them in odd numbers and in a tank this size you do not have space for schooling fish of this size. I was considering get 3 of these for my 210 but am probably going to wait until I have a 8 foot long tank.

I would recommend you only have 1 Hepatus Tang, 1 Yellow Tang, the clowns, and a blenny. If you really like/want a schooling fish you could add a small schooling fish like blue/green chromis(5 or 7) or cardinal fish.

With the list I just mentioned you still get all the species you like, but will have a much more manageable and happy tank. It sounds like a great setup you have planned if you lower the number of big fish.

Sounds good, pics when you do!

Definitely.

Just took some screenshots of my current stock. Including most of the fish and some of the corals. Constructive criticism and opinions are encouraged. :D

if you do scooters you can do more then one. just limit it to 2 males in that size tank and you could even have like 6 or more females. triggers are my favorite fishes so you could add some of them to the list if you like them.

I don't think im going to do scooters. Being dragonets, they do have quite delicate feeding habits and I just don't think I could keep up.

I've looked into triggers, but I like "Nice" fish. :D

my triggers are "nice" infact my clownfish are more agressive then my triggers. just so you know scooters aren't that delicate. my 3 scooters took to brime shrimp and new life spectrum pellets within hours of being in the tank.

take a lookat my thread 'the 55gal' to see the mix i got. the niger trigger was the 3rd fish i got for saltwater. my clownfish were first. none of the triggers mess with any other fish but themselves and that isn't offten.
