hey guys, i just set up an old fibreglass tub that was lying around. it's a 2' square, 8" high. i have a nice thick sand bed, almost 2", and some large pieces of rock in there. i want to avoid a cover on the mini pond, and if i can't think of anything cool to stock it with it'll just become a feeder breeder.
i was hoping a small species of eel would be okay in the tub. so far the best choice looks to be some kuhli loaches. i do have a much larger FW pond to move fish into if it requires. do the spiny eels grow quickly?
any suggestions?

Alot of spiny eels could live in there for life eg: macrognathus panculus, m.circumctincus, m. siamensis but the larger mastacembelus eels (which are my favourite as they tend to be more friendly and they have great charachter) get alot bigger with the smallest members getting over 2' also macrognathus aral will top 2'.

haha. some sort of spiny eel, one of the bigger species is fine too, i can always move them around. price is a major factor, as usual.
unless anyone has another suggestion? i was toying with breeding crays. kuhli loaches are a solid option too.

I have kept kuhli loaches and i deemed them the worst fish i had ever kept, breeding crays is great the babys are realy fun to raise kuhlis just hide all the time even when you have them in a huge group, i put 20 in then never saw them again.

Synodontisjack, it will depend on how you set up your tank. Kuhli loaches prefer subdued lighting with plenty of hiding places.

I had just 1 30w t8 in a 40g with a substrate of sand and dead leaves and blackwater extract. It was setup just for them and the only time they would ever come out was for brineshrimp, i sold them after a few months. Maybe i was just unlucky but i personaly would never keep them again, i love loaches but just not kuhlis.
