I was looking at the mini monsters thread but a lot of the options are above 5 gal. Today is "bulk day" in my town, wherew everyone puts all their junk on the curb. I scored a 5 gal hex, a 10gal eclipse, and a 55g. I'm ready to set up the 5g in my room and I want to know my options. So far I know i can do a pea puffer or a betta, what else is out there?

A friend of mine keeps zebras in a 5 gallon, could work

Snails are also more exiting than they seem.

P.S. 55 gallons? SCORE!

Just found another 10g that's a Hex, there was also a 20g long but it was cracked :< Anyone know how to clean plastic? I dont wanna scratch it up :s
If I can clean it i'll use the 10g hex instead, and sell the 5g 10g and 55g(i want a breeder tank if i can find a trade)

google "novus" for the scrylic tank... you can score a set off of ebay for about $25.. works like a champ

as for the 5gallons... shrimp and snails..

One advantage of such a small tank is you'll get great light penetration so even with a cheep fixture and a full spec bulb you should be able to grow plants well. Just make shure is doesn't overheat the water. I've seen some 5 gal planted, shrimp tanks, that were really beautiful. Then with shrimp tank, if you ever get a bigger tank you have self replicating snacks for your fish.

I don't think its acrylic, just regular old plastic.
