Stock suggestions for 40b

A pair of my 40 breeders are about to get freed up as my wife’s lizards are moving to permanent enclosures, so fishy folk what do you guys recommend? I’m contemplating doing a betta unimaculata set up in one but unsure also thinkin about a grow out for the really small bichirs. What do you guys think what would you do

Not gonna lie was thinkin about that but I’ve never kept any of the wolves before are they active or are they more of a lay and wait kinda guy

Depends on its mood. Definitely more active when young but even at 8+ inches mine will still regularly go on patrol. Keeping the lights dim help (like with any lurker).
They will always come up to beg for food when you are near, so any time you are watching it will wind up coming out.

Both tanks i plan on planting but would the 40be enough for th wolf for life?

They aren’t super active, so they don’t need the same space requirements as a similarly sized fish like a cichlid would - mine is in a 36 bow front (the 40B is better for the extra width). Bigger is always better, but the fish doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of wanting/needing more space.

Ok well like tlindsey called it one will be a bichir grow out most likely the other one I’d like to be the permanent home for xxxxx just want to make sure I won’t have to upgrade him

Nanolutea pair? Just what I would personally do if I had a 40b right in front of me, waiting to be set up lol. I’m certain other members could give some more unique ideas for stocking.
