I'm surprized no one has posted pics. yet. Many people use them and they are great. I used one as a temp. pond when I moved. My current home didn't have a pond. When I moved in, I placed a 300 gal on my patio to house my goldfish and Koi. I had a regular sump pump in the 300, piped to a 70 gal. stock tank. The 300 sat on the ground and the 70 was 8" higher sitting on cinder blocks. Plumbed the bung from the 70 out 6", 90 pointed up, a small section of pvc to another 90, then another section of pipe which lead to the 300. Very simple, unsightly, but effective and easy. I wish I would have taken pics. but had no idea about MFK back then.

Fraser, I'm in Lanark. The country supplies depot here gets in the big stock tanks next month for when the cattle go out. The biggest are 500/550 Gallons. If your interest I'll give you a shout when they are in... They are ~300 squid if I remember rightly. Given I was quoted 250 squid for a 250 gallon koi tub, I thought that was pretty decent...

no has these ?

king that sounds great i have been looking around but never found anything .
could you drop me a pm when you get them and post me a pic or two

im gona check local farm supply places when i get time. pretty short of money so ill have to think about those 500 any dimensions ?

i am using a horse trough for temp winter pond...its 220gallons I used the side bottom drain flowing to a 55gallon which has a submersble pump flowing to a pressurefilter which then flows back to the tank....I have another fioter RENA XP3 that feeds water to a bucket with srubbies that overflows also into the 55 barrel  sorry if that confused you

I am getting great results with my bio mass, i heavy feed 10 koi everyday and flush the barrel every two days...no amonia, or nitrites present. Ill see if i can show a picture
