My dad has gotten interested in aquariums since I am housing my 200g at his house. I will eventually leave the 200g there when we build bigger for my monsters (in the next two years or so). For now he is looking at getting a 100g and growing a cichlid community. These guys can eventually switch over to 200g but let's just pretend that the 100g is the tank they will have forever just in case something happens.

He is looking for cichlids that get along well with each other and aren't known for aggression towards tank mates. They will all grow with each other.

He likes the Tiger Oscar, Red Terror, Blood Parrot, and there is a bright blue one we can't remember the name of. (these are all based on looks)

Base on this info can you give me a list of cichlids that will go well?

Also, is there a website that lists all the different kinds of cichlids with pictures? I feel like Liveaquaria doesn't have all the info I am looking for.

Liveaquaria only has common species that you can find at most petsmart/petco type stores and are extremely overpriced imo. There's other much better online stores and vendors out there.

Red Terror are one of the most aggressive cichlids and you'd be better off without them if you want a peaceful community that can live in a 100 gal for life. Oscars are too large for such setup as well. The bright blue fish you're talking about is probably an electric blue jack dempsey and that could be a good choice for your tank if you manage to get a healthy one with good genes.

I think the best cichlid for the 100g would be xenotilapia. They are peaceful shoalers that can be kept in group. They also have a stricking color

You could also try mbuna if you're looking for a nice community with several colorful fish... they're not exactly peaceful but their aggression is easier to manage than that of big CA/SA brutes when talking about community setups.

This would be technically impossible to achieve with CA/SA cichlids.

I figured with Terror in his name he would be aggressive haha.

EB Jack Dempsey is the name! thanks!

So Oscars get to big for 100g? that's a shame...Tiger oscars are gorgeous.

What goes well with a Jack Dempsey? He is wanting colorful interesting fish that don't stay babies (like 2-3" for life)

Looked them up and they look nice as well. I'll do more research on these

That tank is beautiful but to busy for his liking. I think the idea is 5-10 fish he can get to know.

I'd get:

A pair of chocolate cichlids
5 Clown Loaches
2-3 Bristle Nose Plecos
