I just purchased a 125 gallon(72x18x23) aquarium. I have a fluval fx6 for flirtation. I have two firemouth cichlids and a bristle nose pleco already in a 55 gallon that I will be adding to the 125. I also would like to get at least one Oscar because they are my favorite fish. What else would work with them? I will be cycling aquarium before adding fish just want to brainstorm and get a stock in mind. Also should I get dithers like giant danios or silver dollars, or should I wait and see.

Oscar and firemouths will probably get along. Firemouths can be mean but are easily put in their place by bigger cichlids. Maybe add a senegal bichir or delhezi? Add your dithers then you should be good. Consider rainbowfish for dithers too...

Best option in my opinion would be to add a few more firemouths. The firemouths like to live in groups and will show you interesting dynamics and behavior. I'd say add 2-3 more. Spring for only 1-2 males. They will go fine with the Oscar.

More firemouths would be a great idea. They look really nice in large groups.
