Looking to do some sort of cichlid tank.... African cichlids maybe cause ive noticed a lpt of them dont get as big as the ca or sa but I may be wrong... But id like it to be some sort of regional tank like all african or all sa or ca... And how many could I put in there.... I want it kinda crowded so not too much aggression but not too crowded.

You could do some geos as a centerpiece fish like a trio of your favorite one with build the tank around them. Or some acaras or other dwarf cichlids.

Do a mbuna african tank... You can do like 20 fish in that size tank, and they never stop swimming!!! I have mubuna in my 55 gallon livingroom setup, theyre cool!!!
In the process of stocking a 55 right now here's what I got and I'm shooting for.
5 yellow tail acei
5 electric yellows
4 neon jewels (not mbuna but work really well with them and gives a different look)
Thats what's in so far next weekend I'll be adding more but haven't decided here is what I'm thinking of adding shooting for about 25 fish so it will be over crowded

cobalt blue
There are tons of mbuna you can add with all sorts of colors but be careful some get to large for a 55 and some are hyper aggressive Johanni come to mind as do julidochromis I'm pretty new but have been doing tons of research getting this tank ready so any one more experienced please correct me.

Your stock sounds good so far, and since you went with 5 yellow tail acei, you might want to stay at 20 total fish since they get pretty big.. But 25 may still be ok!!!
decided to do the mbuna idea since i already have a south american style tank. was thinkin like 15 or 20 cichlids, 2 synodontis catfish not sure what kind yet exactly. but where im stuck is i want some sort of sucker mouth to clean the glass and the rocks n stuff but idk if there is a sucker mouth from africa, doesnt need to be from lake malawi or sny other in specific just somethin to clean up algae... any thoughts
and idk why i just thought about this but maybe add an african brown knife fish??? with the cichlids would this be alright... like i said just looking to do an african style tank so any other suggestions as far as fish be my guest
Hi I would tecommend cuckoo catfish for the synodontis. Here's a nat geo vid on them. Coolest cat ever! They parasitize mouth brooding female cichlids and the cichlods raise catfish!
