The tank will be 48" X 18" x 24" deep.

1 heros notatus
1 super red severum
1 green severum
1 ebjd
1 Geo Bahia red
6 emperor tetras (will move once others get big)
3 pictus cats
1 rubber nose pleco.

All are still young 2" - 4". Is this too much or could it work? The tank will be well filtered. Or should I wait for a 100 gal that's 5 feet long but not as deep?

If i were you i would go 125. a 90 is pushing in to me. The rubber nose can get 24 inches maybe Just too many fis in a short length tank

No a rubbernose pleco ( Chaetostoma milesi) gets 4" max unless it's the spotted kind they get to be 6-7". The one I have wil max out at 4". Not all plecos get huge.

But yes I was thinking that it's just not long enough maybe a 5 foot 100 gal would be better.

I'd worry about the pictus not having enough swimming room (at least not enough room for all 3), and the geo being a loner, as they tend to do better in groups. Otherwise, bigger is always better, but it could probably work.

The Geophagus brasiliensis it's not like other geos. They can be aggressive to their own kind so they don't need to be in groups. The pictus cats should only get 4" and and extra 6 " in with I think they would like. They are in a 55 gal now.

I'm going to try hard to find a 5 foot 100 gal but it's not easy. That's why I want to make sure I could make it work in a 90 gal. I could always sell a fish or 2 when they get too big.
