Hey guys!

I have a 125g which currently has an 8" JD, a 10" Jaguar fish, and a massive Pacu that is soon to be removed from the tank.

How many large cichlids could i stock in this 125g?

I was hoping that i could have maybe a total of 5 cichlids in the tank. This is my list:

1 Current Managuense
1 Current Jack Dempsey
1 Green Terror
1 Convict
1 Salvini

The Jag seems to be quite laid back. The JD will push it around, even though the jag's mouth is twice the size. I am not sure if he's just holding back due to the giant pacu in there though.

Is that too much for a 125g? I have a 950gph pump for filtration, as well as 2 large powerheads for circulation and have plenty of surface aggitation. No plants of course, as for whatever reason they may have, cichlids seem to absolutely hate plants.

What do you guys think?

If your Managuence, and only IF your managuence remain laid back (something I would not count on), then your combination of fish should work for this tank providing you have good filtration

cool.

The managuense hasn't grown any past 10". I thought they were supposed to get bigger?

It was originally a bit smaller than the JD, who has been full grown for quite some time, and quickly grew to his current 10". He hasn't gotten any bigger for about 6 months. Maybe it is the smaller gender?

I find it very odd that the JD bullies the Managuense around. The JD isn't even overly agressive either. It is just intollerant, and doesn't like other fish being near it.

I'm thinking that maybe the convict will be too small and get injured.

1 Current Managuense---->Keep alone in 125g...Find a possible mate...
1 Current Jack Dempsey---->No...Re-locate
1 Green Terror---->NO...Nice colored cichlid, but I found these to grow the slowest....
1 Convict---->Yes..Possible feeder....Throw in lots of heavy rock caves...
1 Salvini---->No...Max size is 6 inches...I'm guessing the Manny will eventually woop on this...Salvinis are colorful cichlids...You should raise some in a 75g...

I think these fish eventually nip each other to death during the "pecking order process...."Only canidate I see surviving would be the small Convict(max size of 4"), and that's only if heavy rock caves are put in the tank or him to hide in....The Managuense will eventually figure out that he/she is a top predator and would start harrassing the GT and Salvini...All your fish mentioned are beutiful fish and deserve their own tanks...

I'd flip the tank into a "Manny showcase...."And if possible, find the time to get a mate for him, or her....Do you even know the sex of the Manny, check....Breed the beast...Without the nuisance of smaller fish, grow it to its potential...
