I've seen this pool
fairly cheap. and am waiting for a reply from the manufacturors as regard any problems with keeping fish in it (fungicides etc)
its a 12' x 30" = 1,485 gal (5,619 L) (from manufacturers website) so plenty of room. i'd see what the solar cover is like and whether it allows light to get through (1 site said it let 80% of light through but "greatly reduced heat loss"
i was wondering about how i'd stock it though. obviouslt i'd be fitting a large pond filter (cosidering setting up a koi tye system with vortex filter then several media bays, though it'd all be DIY cause the bought units are rediculas) and a large heater(though hopefully it wont be needed, for instance when i was testing my 400l for water tightness i filled it up straight from the tap, next day after being in the sun the temp was about 23-25c
i'm gonna test the temp of the "pond" i have outside at the moment (1/2 a whiskey barrel,) however i know that not to be an aquarate example, as during the summer last year i planned to put WCMM in it and the temp went from 16c at night to 28c miday. obviously the water volume will help keep the levels stable.
I'm planning to keep malawis in there, and its not like they need HOT temps, if i can get it to around 24 i'll be happy. to reduce heat loss at night i would be fitting a polystyrene/celotex lid, and the sides would be well insulated.
obviously the supplied pool filter is of no use to me. so i will fit a large pond filter (DIY obviously, because its cheap), i'm thinking 2 55g blue barrels, 1 set up as a vortex chamber the the other bio media. and a sequence 10'000lph pump
and hopefully i'll have all of my fish shed set up well before winter, and i'd move the fish into a 8by2by2 (if theres room i'd increase it to a 8by3by3) "pond" inside there, and just transfer all the filters over.
