I was wondering what you guys thought about my plans to stock my 180 gallon tank. I currently have a 10" Midas, 9" Jag, 8" Vieja Zonatus, 6.5" Buttikofori, and a 6" Paratilapia Polleni in the tank and they all do fairly well together. I've had them all in the same tank for about two months. I'm planning to add a male and female Mayan Cichlid 6-7", a 4-5" Vieja Maculicauda, and 5-6" Vieja Melanurus. So what are your thoughts, any advice or experience would be greatly apprecciated.

i think u shouldnt add anymore fish

Actually I'm thinking about selling my Midas and the Jag before I get the new fish.

If you sell the midas and jag, that Butti will end up running that tank in a few months and possibly kill everyone else. Buttis are some of the biggest terrorizers out there. The only other thing I see possibly happening is if those Mayans are a proven pair, they will rule that tank most likely. They are mean on their own and I hear they are a formidable match to most other cichlids as a pair.

i agree...lose the butti and the mayans

Pardon the newbie question....

The paratilapia gets along ok with the S. American cichlids?

Yes, I have a 6" Paratalapia Polleni in the 180 with the NW Cichlids and he does just fine. After listening to you guys I may end up getting rid of the Butti and the Midas.

Yes, I have kept mine with SA and CA cichlids (and a couple of haps for a brief time) for about 3 years, and have had no serious problems
