i know i posted before but i have changed something. I am going to be getting a 200g or bigger (maybe a 300g but not tell the GF)come spring , when im out of college for summer break. I decided to scratch the peacock bass and go for some more central american fish.
Here is my current stock:
3 oscars (might become two if i get a breeding pair, hope not)
2 convicts ( F1's from jeff, the male is a brute, he can hold his own but protects the female)
1 jack dempsey
1 green terror
1 chocolate pleco

Here are some ideas that i would like to add, these are some things i would like to add, not all
1 carpintis
1 or a pair v. argentea ( i plan on getting one of these)
1 female festae or a pair because the red is better on the female with a male
1 Amphilophus lyonsi
1 red bay snook
1 Tilapia buttikoferi
1 pair of ex 'Cichlasoma' istlanum 'red' ( i really like these, How big do they get?)

These are my choices, please provide input. im curious on what will work and what you would do.

i wasn't looking to add all thos fish because that would be heavily stocked for a 200g with my current stock. what would you add? would this work
1 vieja argentea
1 carpintis
1 pair ex 'Cichlasoma' istlanum 'red'

i would say yes it would though keep an eye on your nitrates and if they seem to be going to high during the week between water changes then i would rehome one or 2 of the oscars as these guys are quite messy as you must know already lol

ya i do but i will be running a big sump and a canister filter plus twice a week water changes. i might have to rehome one here soon because my other two oscars are being a little mean but nothing that bad but the two are always together and i hope they don't turn in to a pair.

now thinking about it i would like to do what i suggested before which is
1 v. argentea
1 pair ex 'Cichlasoma' istlanum 'red'
but now its a toss up of either a carpintis (escndido) or a Amphilophus lyonsi
which would you choose?

hmmm i personally would do a carpintis escondido or lahillas but thats just because i personally really like those nice blues they throw out and think have more of a "WOW" aspect when someone looks at your tank but lyonsi are nice fish as well and its really about which one appeals to your personal preference more

ya i agree, i like both a lot. would this work without the lysoni unless i get a bigger tank? if i got a 8' 240 would i be able to have the lysoni too?
