Ok guys, what do you think I should stock my 220 gal with? It is between Discus (problem is can't keep a large cat with them), Frontosa (could probably keep something like an electric cat with them), Large Catfish with a small ray (know idea what else to put with this one), or Mixed Large cichlids (like Midas type ones, with some large cat). I as you see I really want a large cat (leaning toward juruense). The tank dimensions are 72 x 30.5 x 24. with it being only 2 ft wide I would be limited on rays to probably a retic. , unless there is another ray I could keep in there that is not terribly expensive. One last question, Would the ray and juruense be compatible and if so, with what else could I put them with? What do you guys think?

Go with large cichlids. Maybe Amphilophus Hogaboomorum. They can get pretty big (12"+) and are a beautiful/semi-rare cichlid. Just my opinion!

get maybe an rd, jag, your big cat and some odballs like a finger fish and other cichlids. A jd would also look cool in there, dont no how much you want to spend but im sure an african aro would also be cool.

That would make a real sweet frontosa tank!:headbang2

my personal opinion, i'd go for mid-sized south american predators.

I voted for Discus.........I am more of a predator hobbyist, but a 220 filled with only Discus is fascinating............I can see it now:

Gravel on the outreaches of the sides and back forming a half moon shape, and in the center of the crescent is sand........Throw in 3 GIANTAmazon Mother plants along the back and fill in the gaps with TALL Vallisneria plants.........GFirmly planted in the center is a centerpeice driftwood, so big you name it "castle.........."As for the Dicus, the colors are endless, Marlboro my favorite.....Stick with the Euorpean strains(stronger and more selection.)........But if going with the true wild Discus, all thumbs up:headbang2.......

I am totally torn, because a Discus tank that big would look unbelievable, but I wouldn't be able to keep my large cat, not to mention the cost of the fish themselves and constant pH and temp monitoring also has me worried. Fronts would also look killer but they wouldn't go with the juruense. Anyone know what larger cat could go with Fronts? Ray and Juruense I would like but I am not 100% sure on the compatibility and what else could go in there? The large cichlids could go with the Juruense, but I dont find most S.A. or C.A. cichlids as attractive as Fronts or Discus (even though they are S.A. cichlids).

I am always a fan of the SA cichlids. IMO, they more than make up for what they may lack in purely aesthetic beauty with their wickedly fun personalities. Plus, there's not much that is better looking than a huge jag, if you ask me.
