I'm re-doing one of my tanks, and am cycling it (29 gallon)

I have no idea what to put in it and was wondering if there would be any suggestions. I already keep a few cichlids (Dempsey, Firemouths) in different tanks and have kept fish for quite a while so I'm not new to fish keeping. My water is fairly hard here and have a relatively high pH in the water (Limestone Bedrock)

The tank is already setup with some fine gravel and sand, but no plants yet. One fish I've always thought was cute was a Green Spotted Puffer, and know it is brackish. Any thoughts on the little guys? Any other suggestions for inhabitants?

Just nothing that will outgrow the 29 please :D

I'm setting up a 29 right now as a planted South American community. At first it will be a growout for my SA lung, but once he outgrows it (or gets big enough to start eating the other community members) I'll move him to a bigger tank and probably replace him with some blue rams or apistos. Right now, the other fish I have to go in the tank are glo-light tetras and panda cories. Once they're in the 29, I'll probably also add some hatchets and more tetras. Lots of people will tell you these fish require soft, acidic water, but that's really only for breeding. I have the same water you do and Amazonian fish do fine.

Ty for the suggestions, my water has proven perfect for CA cichlids and a few others with a high pH, hard, basic water.

Why not have a asian stream biotope with like some gold barbs, a ruby shark or rts, and a school of small loaches?

i was actually gonna make a new post but, what do u think about some yellow labs and demasonis , it sounds like ur water is hard enough and ph is high enough.
