I have a 30 gallon tank currently with 6 sunset platys. Are there any ideas on stocking the tank.? I would prefer having as much little fish as possible.

You could try a shoal of corydoras, hatchetfish, some peaceful tetras like Columbian blues or Black Phantoms, some pencilfish, and some otocinclus catfish for algae control.
This way you have active fish at all layers. Just make sure you cover all holes exposed when keeping hatchetfish, they like to jump.
