Hello ladies and gents, I am starting a 40b tank and was hoping for some stocking advice. I will be moving 4 German Blue Rams into it, but other than that it will be open! It will be a planted tank with lots of wood and hiding spaces. I was thinking about adding a couple Keyhole cichlids, as well. I have a lot to research, but some guidance would be great! Thanks!

Parameters:
-must be live plant safe
-community compatible (on a similar level of Keyholes/German Blue Rams)

IMO you have your centerpiece cichlids with the 4 rams. I would stock a school of tetras around them maybe a school of cherry barbs. you could also do a group of corries depending on your substrate.

Yeah, I was thinking of a group of corries. Maybe a group of Rummynose Tetras. I was thinking about some smaller Rainbowfish, but it seems like the 40b might be a bit too small and Keyholes and Rams a little too shy.

You are also going to want to have the tank up and running for a while before adding the rams. They tend not to do so well in new tanks.

Yeah, that is the plan and I was going to add some of the biomedia from my current tank to the filter to get things started a little more smoothly.
