I'm sorry I don't know much about the African Cichlids but, I'm not new to fish keeping. I have 2 75gallon tanks that I'm looking to get up and running and just needed to get some info on stocking and decor. I know this is a lot to ask but any info will be helpful. I've .been doing a great deal of reading on this but, wanted to get some info from keepers. Thanks in advance!

You first need to figure out if your interested in African and which location, South American or Central American chiclids. then it will be easier to help you out.
Ooops sorry just realized you did say African. But which lake? There is Lake Malawi, Lake Tanganikian, Lake Victoria and western chiclids in Africa.
With Lake Malawi you then have Peas, Haps and Mbunas to choose from. Personally I would never setup a tank with Mbunas and Haps or peas. But it is done often and with enough precautions loses can be minimal. With your 75 gallon you will have some happy fish. Are you looking to breed or an all male tank?
