I've just been given a 75. It needs a bit of work re: silicone, but is stable and entirely useable. I'd like to keep larger fish in it, something different than the small tetras, cories and barbs I've always kept in my small tanks.

Any suggestions? I love Polypterus, and the Eels, but am not sure that they would fit. The tank will be set up in my HS biology classroom (I am a teacher) so interesting/ educational is a plus! Thanks!

breeding pair of Green Terrors, african cichlid setup, maybe a flowerhorn or something like that.

by the way, welcome to MFK!

would a flowerhorn get to big? I'd go with a green terror, and a pair of firemouths. (my favorite cichlids)

Depends on the flowerhorn. I have a overstocked 75 that I have a Fire eel, GT, Royal GT, Blue acara, Flowerhorn zz strain, Tiger Datnoid,Green Severum,Spotted Pleco(Adonis? maybe), blue crayfish with 5 Loaches and 5 Giant Danios as dithers. Works good and looks nice for now and I know I will have to get rid of some down the road. As long as you have really good filtration and the fish are small you can get away with overstocking it for a while. Just make sure you have a home for some of the fish down the road.

If it's interesting and educational, a Firemouth Cichlid species tank would be interesting or some Convict Cichlids. They both breed easily (from what I've heard) and they get to a decent size (both are 5" to 6").
