So I'm trying to stock my 90 gallon and I'm looking for ideas. All I have right now is 6 angelfish and 1 reticulated stingray. The longest angelfish is 2.5 inches, but all of them are veilfin koi angels or black lace angels. The reticulated is about a month old and will eventually go in a 180 gallon tank. I was thinking maybe 3-5 geophagus, a pair of keyhole cichlids, and a pair of pearl gouramis. Sound overcrowded? The angels will all be sold or moved to other tanks when they pair off (I will keep one pair in the tank) and the stingray will be moved when he gets a little bigger. The store also has some nice raphael catfish and some excellent bleeding heart tetras. So does this sound good as the final list.
3-5 Geophagus (any species)
2 Koi angels
2 Pearl gourami
2 Keyhole cichlids
1 Striped Raphael catfish
9-15 Bleeding Heart Tetra

I like the list except the gourami, I've noticed they tend to quarrel with angels when I've seen them mixed

If it was one of the 2 spot gouramis (3 spot/blue/gold/opaline/platinum) I would agree with them being pushy for angels. But I've kept dwarf gouramis, honey's and pearls with angels before with no issues. Pearls are mellow enough that several people recommend them as an usual discus tankmate. Actually the dwarves were worse on the angels than the Pearls were despite being half the size.
