Hi guys,

I recently bought a new house and now I have the green light from my girlfriend to build a aquarium.
It's going to be a plywood bottom with glass sides with a plywood frame with the dimensions of

Length : 180(cm) / 70.87(inch)
Width : 120(cm) / 47.24(inch)
Water height : 70(cm) / 27.56(inch)

Currently I have 3 wild caught Oscars imported from Brazil (Marajó) they're currently Approx. 17(cm) / 6.7(inch) and I might sell of 1 when a pair is forming.

I had one Motoro stingray before but I had to sell him because I was stupid enough to buy him before I was able to build a bigger tank for him. I learned from it the hard way and that's why I'm going to do it the right way now to build the tank before buying the fish.

I'm thinking about buying a stingray or multiple stingrays again but I'm not sure if this tank will be big enough that's why I'm asking for the advice of you guys because you have more experience with it then I do.

I'm not sure if I want to add the Oscars to the tank because they might damage the rays.

So my question for you guys is what types of rays can I keep and how many and what are good tank mates for them(if my tank is not big enough for them, I could extend the 180cm/70.87inch by another 20cm if that would be a better size for the rays). But if its better not to keep them in this aquarium I accept that as well and add different types of South American cichlids.

Thanks in advance,

Maurice / Clothsack

I would think, find out your dimensions then go from there? Bigger is always better. Build the biggest you can is what they say. Best of luck.
