Hi everyone,

I was hoping to get some opinions on how appropriate this tank size is for my current fish and what else i might have room for in the way of central and south americans.

The tank is 48in x 24in x 18in - 90 US Gal, 340 Litres

Housing 1 Oscar, 1 Blue Acara.

I'd really like to get some new takmates but im unsure as to whether to go for something smaller (convicts, firemouths), if i have room for another Oscar-sized fish or if i've got room for anything at all as both fish are still less than half their adult sizes n its hard to visualise them fully grown.

if you must go with something small like firemouth, I'd stay away from any other large fish

maybe a severum or 2 male convicts I try firemouths sometimes, but all mine end up to shy and hide alot. convicts are tough and will stand up to any fish nonsense.

i'd probably go with another acara and a firemouth.
need the filtration and water changes though.

Cheers for the replies,

yeh i think a convict'd be good, they look awesome and ive heard they're tough for their size. I have a friend with a bulky 8 inch oscar that gets harrassed by his 3 inch con!!

I also really like firemouths but im worried how one would hold up sharing space with an oscar and other fish its size. I read somwhere they dont deal with stress too well.

I think ill keep looking around for other smaller CA n SA cichlids. Please post suggestions if you feel like it, any tips are greatly appreciated.
