Hello, I have recently purchased a 150 gallon tank(48x24x30) off of craigslist for $100 and resealed it. I bought the tank as an upgrade from a 45 that is currently housing a baby Jaguar, Convict, and Jack Dempsey. They are 1.5-2 inches long at this time. What other fish can I put with them? Anything from sharks to cats to loaches to other cichlids is okay. I just want to know what my options are.... Thanks in advance.

long term nothing if im honest, well no more cichlids. the jag will prob take the 150 as it grows esp if its a male. could prob do a mini gibbi plec l001 and maybe a raphael catfish.

Plenty more if you remove the jag. I've never had one but I've heard they get pretty territorial. I say plenty more but that's relitive. You could probably fit another 2 mid size aggressive cichlids in there, similar size to the JD. if you're looking for more than that I'd say look at less aggressive cichlids. Not my area of expertise (though nothing really is atm) but geos are one option and things like severum or chocolates, while getting large, are pretty laid back.

My jaguar is really little at the moment so I can't tell the sex but hopefully its a female. The JD and convict really seem to be the dominant fish in the tank which is kind of ironic.... I guess things will change as time goes on.

Jags do get territoral, and your tank while it is great to have 150 gallons for them, the length can be important later as they grow.your 4ft length will keep them from away from each other for now,if they need space.I would not add any more cichlids, you could try 5 silver dollars or another fast good size schooler.be aware any school fish might not last as the fish growout

What are your opinions on keeping a few larger Africans with them? Or is that completely out of the question? Some are just so beautiful.. What other large schoolers are there other than Silver dollars?

Not sure about the africans,I know some people mix cichlids from sa,ca or Africa.giant danios, filament barbs,T-barbs,larger rainbow fish

Go for some silver dollars, common ones. Get big enough to survive allot of cichlids in my opinion and won't get too large. Fun watching them school and hang out in a pack.

I am a little biased towards EBJD's , if you have a liking towards them , you can add a couple of them , but ensure it is around 2 - 3 inches...as they are slow growers
