I have a 6 foot long 125g tank stocked with the following:

1 Gold Severum-5"
2 Green Severums 4", 2.5"
2 Angelfish 3.5"
2 Gold Killifish 3"
6 Congo Tetras 2.5"
5 Clown Loaches 2-4"
1 Pleco 8"
Pair of Nicaraguensis( I believe they are trying to breed) 4-5'"
1 Firemouth 2"

Most of the fish have been raised together since juvies and there is very little aggression in the tank. Sometimes the angelfish and severum will go at it. The angelfish appear to hold their own very well

Will the loaches be safe if nics are trying to breed?
Will the 2 green severums eventually fight?
Will the firemouth try to pick on fish as it grows out?
Do Nic cichlids stay very mellow, as mine seem to be?

Do you see any other compatibility issues here?

They'll be safe as long as they have some hiding spots in the tank. I can't say the same thing for the eventual fry, as the loaches would eat them at night when the lights are off.

Will the 2 green severums eventually fight?
If they end up to be of the same sex then there's a big chance that they'll fight. One more thing, they'll eventuall outgrow all your other fishes so watch out for aggression.

Will the firemouth try to pick on fish as it grows out?
They always do but they're mostly bluff but are very territorial.

Do Nic cichlids stay very mellow, as mine seem to be?
No, my pair could hang with the big boys with no problem especially when breeding.

I see it with the Sevs when they get bigger and the nics when they are breeding.

I think having 3 severums might help. Whether green or gold, still the same type of fish. As for the nics, I will forever now keep them with big boys only. They nipped the fins off of everything! That includes the long streamers from the sevs and angel. At first I couldn't figure out who was doing it, until I caught him ripping on my 14" ornate's caudal. :irked: He went back to the lfs that second. I couldn't imagine this with a pair. :nilly:

Thanks for the advice. I will monitor. I have a 90g with a salvini, jack dempsey, firemouth and oscar. I may move the nics if they get aggressive and take out the oscar to lessen the bioload.
