Hi, I have a cycled 90g and need help with stocking ideas. I know what I'd like, it just doesn't seem like the tank would be big enough.

According to aqadviser it will work;

1 JD
1 Blue Acara
1 Severum
1 Senegal birchir

Will this work?
If not, can you help me with some stocking ideas please :)

I have friends at lfs who can take fish if things don't work out, which is helpful.

Thanks all

I'd do a group of any of the first three with the hopes of pair formation then trade the oddballs.

I think you have too much blue going on and several fish vying for the same turf

Regular JDs prefer high pH (7.5 and up), hard water.
Severums prefer low pH (pH 7 and lower), soft water
Blue Acara's 'are flexible ,neutral pH
Senegals prefer medium pH, but soft water
If your tap water is neutral, not hard, not soft you may be good with those species.
If your tap water leans one way or the other, you may want to revaluate stocking, and do a little research on what prefers your type water.
And I agree, because the Acara, and JD are very similar in blue spangling and basic looks, they may see each other as competitors once mature, and may not live well together at that point.

Thanks for your replies.

My parameters are sitting at 14gh and 11kh. My pH is between 7 to 7.5.
So regards to the pH not sure which species would work better, and tbh I don't really understand the gh and kh. However, I work for the water company and our water supplied is generally hard but not massively.

This is why I need the help with stocking suggestions 😅

Above is the kind of water found in the Amazon basin, where severums, oscars Uaru and other soft water species might be found.
Below is a test of water in Mexico where JDs and their cousins are found

gh is basically considered the general, or total Hardness, the general and total mineral content of water.
kh is basically carbonate, or the calcium component of that hardness.
Your water would be perfect for Central American, or rift lake African species,
not so great for Amazonian or other soft water types.
It will not kill them directly , but over time make them susceptible to the bacteria that thrive in higher mineral content water.
Although fish from west of the Andes could tolerate it well, as would some of those from south of the Amazon basin.
If you could source the Senegal Bichir found in Lake Turkana, that would be what I'd try to do.
Lake Turkana is a hard water, at times almost brackish lake, that would match your parameters much better than a soft water variant.

Thank you, that is helpful to know!
So a jack dempsey could work?
If not, preferably I'd like a single bigger cichlid and maybe a couple of smaller ones?
Is there anything you think would work like that?
Could I have a Jd and a firemouth or two? Or does that combo not work
