Gonna be building an 8'x4'x2' tank some time in the next year and I'm looking for some stocking ideas.

Some stock is already decided.
2x Tiger Oscars
1x Common Pleco
5x Silver dollars

I'm looking for more to go in mainly SA/CA Cichlids but would like to do a good mix with a decent sized catfish and maybe a couple bichirs.

I would throw in a jag but it all depends on if you would rather a couple of big fish or a bunch of medium sized fish.
I would also bump up the silver dollars to 10 because even though they are not the pretiest fish they are an awesome cleanup crew for the messy oscars and other large messy eaters.

Well its a blind pleco if that helps lol. If he becomes a problem I'd sooner get rid of him.
what about something along the lines of this

Too Much or Still room for a little more. Filtration will be a 3.5'x4'x18" sump.
2x Tiger oscar
10x Silver dollar
1x Common pleco
2x Rotkeil severum
1x Gold severum
3x Threadfin acara
3x Firemouth Cichlid
2x Uaru Cichlid
7x Clown Loach
1x Ornate bichir
1x Senegal bichir

Instead of getting what everyone else has, such as all those common fish, I would contact Cichlid Connection who is on here and Americancichlids.net. Both of those guys have the uncommon fish. SA's can be a pain to start with large ones, if you have the time and tank space, you can do it. But they also sell juvies and even larger then juvies. Let them grow out together and will probably have much better luck. What you do is go down their list, copy and paste their name into Google and see what they look like when they are adults. Most of those uncommon and rare cihlids will blow away ANY oscar, sev, acara, firemouth, etc. Trust me, I did it and glad I did. You dont really get the "wow" factor with common fish as you would with fish on these two guys pages.

I will be getting a Chuco Godmanni and Nourisatti show males here soon.

You can see the Vieja Regani in there, beautiful and in my room I have a huge Vieja Argentia in my room because he doesnt get along with everyone.

This is an awesome video below of a Godmanni and Nourisatti

You def have a tank big enough for these guys, most of what you listed dont get very big at all.

add a jag and some blood parrots to that mix and you should have a stunner tank, thay all have soooo much personality and are really great fish and allot of fun to keep ! There is no need to get too fancy with our stock unless you really want too !

Normally I'd suggest some of the larger bichirs for a tank that size, but you hvae some planned fish that could potentially become a meal. You could get a way with some more variety of you stick with the upper jaw species. Dels, mokes, retros and the like. You have a fairly open bottom with your stocking.

Not giving up my Oscars. They were my first real fish that I've kept and their basically family members now.

Not saying to give them up, I like them too and had one for a while and still looking for a nice one but to look into other options as I have in my post. There is plenty of need to get fancy with any tank, if you have a tank that big might as well get stunner fish. And with the sites listed above, they are most likely cheaper than your lfs, sometimes even with shipping included.
