i have a 30 gal cycling right now with about 18 lbs of live rock. im looking into a clown fish but thats typical.. so any ideas of fish that could work in this tank?

Lots of things...gobies, blennies, damselfish...even a mandarin...but these are hard to feed...we are talking three times a day minimum...sump...dosing copepods as well. Not easy to keep.

There are a lot of different clowns...and some are pretty rare, unique, and cool.

Anglerfish also work in a tank that size.

What were you wanting to do?

Little small even for the beauty...but it could work. Dwarf angels are another okay suggestion.

Edit: Dwarf ANGEL more than one is bad for the health of the other if you get what I mean.

well i am new into the saltwater, usually a cichlid guy, so i would prefer somthing that easier but still nice looking. the feeding is not a big deal but i do not have a sump. i have a ac 50 HOB. i do like the mandarins and gobies but im still unsure

Mandarins are expensive...at the very least to feed. If you can find someone that is getting pods in their sump or something, and dose at least once a week and feed no less than three times a day you can try...but really most people cant get them enough food over the course of the day. They are grazers.

Dwarf lion fish

I would rather have 40g with one of these...but with proper filtration and h2o changes I guess it would work.

A angler might also work in this tank.

like fleshy said... do a angler. a dwarf lion is still to big for a 30g. maybe a pair of bangaii cardinals.. they are good looking fish... no on the mandrin. it wont live... i have never met a person who could keep one alive over a year

i would get some real hardy fish, one that can tolerate less than perfect water get 3 months of research under your belt then graduate to a bigger and better tank, by hardy fish i mean damsels ,chromus, humbugs
